ABOUT

In an attempt to address the lack of opportunities for high school students to learn applicable business and economics-related knowledge, BEcome was founded in May 2021 to promote business, economic, and financial literacy among high school students around the globe. As a free, online club, BEcome invites all high school students regardless of their background or proficiency.

By joining BEcome, participants will take part in an array of activities (see ACTIVITIES) and receive a hands-on experience exploring the world of business and economics. From business analyses and simulations to assisting struggling microenterprises, participants will not only learn what to do in hypothetical situations, but will also advance their skills and knowledge to real-world settings.

ACTIVITIES

Business case studies

Through researching the situations or events of certain companies, industries, or countries, members will conduct in-depth analysis, apply their knowledge in business and economics, and propose possible solutions for future improvements.

BUSINESS WALK-INS

Business walk-ins allow members to explore and observe occupations while expanding their learning to local communities. With more exposure to careers at actual workplaces, members gain realistic perspectives on business operations, skill requirements, and work processes of a career field.

REAL LIFE SIMULATIONS

Members will be given an event in the actual work setting, where he/she will need to propose solutions to address a problem or provide alternatives to better the circumstances. Putting oneself in business roles, members will gain experiences and perspectives that are beyond concepts and theories provided by school curriculums.

GUEST SPEAKERS

Guest speakers provide members with an insight into various occupations while sharing personal experiences. In addition, there will be Q&A sessions for members to ask any questions related to the speaker or career field.

LECTURES

With notes and supplemental documents, members will strengthen their understanding on business and economic topics, including macroeconomics, microeconomics, business operations, marketing strategies, finance, etc. With a more well-rounded knowledge in business and economics, members will then apply the information to real-life situations.
